Thursday 16th May
AIB Offices, 10 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2, D02 R126
5.30pm: Arrival
6pm: Panel discussion
7.15pm to 8.30pm: networking with drinks and canapés
Join us for a panel discussion as we explore the impact of interest rates on balance sheets and banking. Against the backdrop of an entirely changed financial landscape, understanding interest rate dynamics is paramount for bank CFOs and top of minds for bank investors. Join us to discuss the key challenges for financial institutions as we face into the next phase of the interest rate cycle and reflect on how Banks are thinking about the impact on the customer and the business.
The session will kick off with an economic update from David McNamara (Chief Economist, AIB) followed by a panel discussion with Pat Byrne (Bank of Ireland), Ailish Connolly (AIB UK), David Tracey (Bank of America) and John-Paul Coleman (Danske Bank) with Kieran Burke (AIB) as moderator. The panel will explore key themes including customer behaviour trends, balance sheet composition, earnings and economic value dynamics / trade-offs and structural hedging considerations.
The event is an open invitation to all Treasury, Finance and Risk professionals in the Dublin market.
As capacity is limited, please ensure you register early to attend the event.

Foundations of Asset & Liability Management including the half day Climate Change course
4th – 7th June 2024
Etc. Venues, Bonhill House
More than ever, Treasury and ALM have vital roles in steering firms’ balance sheets through interest-rate volatility, withdrawal of central bank liquidity and the response to climate change.
This course will introduce the key concepts of capital, liquidity and interest-rate risk management, and their link to financial performance. We also consider climate-related risks and specifically what treasury practitioners need to know to pro-actively support their firms’ climate transition and meet fast-evolving regulatory and ESG investor expectations.

Climate Change: What Treasury Needs to Know
7th June 2024 (Half day morning)
Etc. Venues, Bonhill House
Shareholders, investors, customers and regulators are increasingly focussed on how firms are managing the transition to a low-carbon economy. This has implications for firms’ management of their capital, liquidity and funding.
This half-day course focuses on what Treasury / ALM practitioners need to know about climate change. No prior understanding of climate change is needed. By the end of the course, students should understand how they can pro-actively support their firms’ climate transition, understand the implications for the ILAAP and ICAAP and understand the central bank and ESG issuance landscape.
The course offers a time and cost-efficient way to keep up-to-date with this fast evolving area. There is plenty of opportunity to hear from leading practitioners and to network over lunch.

Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book Course
6th – 7th November 2024
Etc. Venues, Bonhill House
Day 1 covers the basics of IRRBB – what it is and how typically it is managed and controlled. No prior knowledge is required or assumed. Day 2 then looks at some more advanced topics including behavioural risk, what constitutes best practice in respect of internal IRRBB governance and then considers the recently announced changes to the regulatory requirements and the impact these may have on banks.
The course is designed so that delegates may opt to attend either both days or just one of the two days on a stand-alone basis. Delegates, however, considering attending only Day 2 should review the Day 1 course outline in detail to ensure that they are fully conversant with the subject matter as knowledge of this will be assumed.
